New feature for extending access

We are excited to introduce a new feature for requesting extending access to an existing resource.

tip

We recommend adding a default shortcut to the Extend Access process on the Homepage configuration page (Setup > Administration > Homepage ConfigurationHomepage Configuration).

This feature mirrors the familiar request access process, enabling users to conveniently choose which of their active explicit resources they wish to extend.

Our new access extension process closely follows the framework of the access request process, with the following differences:

  • You can only select your own identity.
  • In the resources selection step, we've replaced the search and results table with a table showcasing the explicit resources assigned to the selected beneficiaries. Users can now conveniently mark the specific resources they wish to extend.
  • A crucial addition to the table is a Number of Days Remaining column. This column calculates the remaining validity period by subtracting the current date from the valid to date.
  • Resources eligible for extension are those that are currently active and have a valid to date less than the year 9999.
  • The validity step has been adapted for this extension process. Instead of displaying a start date, we now present an extend from date, representing the end date of the previous assignment's validity.
  • The summary step clearly distinguishes this process as an extension, not a new request. Moreover, the Reason field is pre-populated with the original request's reason, with users retaining the ability to make edits as needed.
