Omada Connectivity Framework for SAP Solutions - Release Notes

The release notes provide an overview of the changes made in the Omada Connectivity Framework for SAP Solutions.

To generate SAP Web services, the SAP NetWeaver application server must be running version 7.00 or higher. For the ABAP stack, SAP and ABA Support Package 14 or higher is required.

Identity Interfaces​

Patch release 126 – Identity Interfaces​

New Features​

The Identity Interfaces were extended with 30 additional custom attributes (CUST_EXT21 - CUST_EXT50). They are placed in the /OMADA/HRCACHE3 table. The new custom attributes can, just like the existing custom attributes, be populated using the dynamic extract program configuration.

To utilize the two new properties for an SAP system which is already onboarded in Omada Identity, update the XML in Queries and mappings by using CTRL + click on Queries and mappings. In the XML view that displays, insert the following line after xpaths= in the query for employees:

Add as many custom attributes as required/configured in SAP.

Afterwards, you can add them as extension attributes under Mappings for the Identity object.

Bug fixes​

We have provided a solution for the reported issue with the termination date of employees (#INC-275027). On the first day after the termination of an identity, the old TERMDATE was set to the old ValidFrom - 1 Day. One day later the TERMDATE was then set to the correct day (which would be yesterday).

We have introduced two new properties for the Org. Unit object which holds the validity dates (called VALIDFROM and VALIDTO). This originates from the Ideas portal.

Patch release 120 - Identity Interfaces​

Bug fixes​

In the Patch Release 118 we've introduced better support for the rehire scenario and to allow for having employees with re-hire actions being part of the extract x of days before the re-hire date. But unfortunately the change introduced an issue with new hires not being assigned correct status in the cache table, this issue is now fixed.

Bug fixes​

The issue with configuring the i_headoforg_unit setting inside the BaDI, an enhancement point in the getmanager form introduced in the 115/116 patch release, has been resolved. It is no longer only an exporting variable, it is possible to configure it.

Rehire scenario improvements

The support for the rehire scenario has been improved, allowing the employees with the rehire actions, with configurable number of days before the rehire date, to be included in the extract.

The dynamic extract configuration has been changed. Omada recommends comparing and verifying the content of the BC Set /OMADA/TABLE_CONTENTS before deploying it to your SAP environment.

Extracting organizational units

Extracting organizational units that are going to be active in the future is now supported. A new field ISFUTURE has been added to the organizational unit structure to identify those records.

We've extended the organizational unit structure with the MGR_PERID_EXT field, containing information about the manager assigned as a head of the organizational unit.

Improvements for processing of future records

Improvements have been introduced to the processing of future Position, Job, and Org Unit information and the way they are returned for the Employee object.

Changes were introduced to the dynamic extract configuration, hence recommends comparing the delivered BC Set with the actual customization table in your SAP environment.

Improvements to delta mode

When using delta mode for reading employees from SAP HCM, the web service has been changed to return terminated employees as changed instead of deleted. This prevents the identities with a future termination date in SAP to be terminated in Enterprise Server before the ValidTo date occurs.

SAP Function Module /OMADA/HR_ORG_UNITS returning future values

Issue with SAP standard Function Module RH_SETUP_TREE_TABLE not returning updated values in TEXT5 and TEXT6 due to buffering is now resolved by reading current values directly from the table.

SAP HCM Connectivity - Rehiring actions are not resolved

When multiple rehire actions existed for an employee, only one of them was taken.

This issue has been resolved so that the extract program now returns the ValidFrom date of the next or closest rehire action in the future.

To ensure successful installation via SAINT, when the ABAP/Dynpro Generation setting is configured to Always, obsolete class references are removed.

Delta functionality extension

The Delta functionality is extended to detect changes to manager assignments on the organizational units. When a new manager is assigned to an organizational unit, all employees directly referenced in the organizational unit are included in the delta calculation.

New features​

Improvements in assigning access approvals

To improve the assignment of the access approval process for new manager, we have added a logic for calculating the future manager role. In a situation of a rehiring it is crucial for an employee to have all necessary access rights right away to be able to perform their daily tasks.

We have added two new fields in the /OMADA/HRCACHE table:

  • MGR_PERNO_NEXT

  • MGR_INITS_NEXT

Changes​

Additional fields in HRCACHE2 table

We have added ten additional custom extension fields to /OMADA/HRCACHE2 table. Each of the fields is 50 characters long and is named from CUST_EXT11 to CUST_EXT20.

Patch release 108 - Identity Interfaces​

New features​

Prerequisite check

For the installation of the Identity Interfaces of the Omada Connectivity Framework for SAP Solutions v6, we have introduced a prerequisite check to verify if the HR module is available in the SAP system, for which you are trying to import the package.

Changes​

Additional cache table

We have introduced an additional cache table named /OMADA/HRCACHE2 as the existing cache table had reached its maximum number of supported characters. The length of the custom extension field 1-10 have been extended to 200 characters and are now placed in the new table. For more information about which fields are now placed in the new table see the SAP HCM Connectivity.

The batch job for populating the cache tables will now populate both tables at the same time, and from a web services point of view there are no changes.

Additional properties available on context objects

For the Company Code objects we are now extracting the NAME1 and NAME2 properties from the ADDR1_DATA table.

For the Org. Unit objects we are now also extracting properties from tables:

  • HRP1008: BUKRS, GSBER, WERKS, PERSA, BTRTL, KOKRS

  • HRP1028: Included all properties

In order to make use of the new available properties, you must manually update the Queries and Mappings in the SAP HCM Collector in Omada Identity.

Changes​

**#### SAP HCM Dynamic Extract Program

The extract of Positions from SAP now supports filtering on the property Planning Status (ISTAT), the filter is default set to 1 and filtering must be used for Delta functionality to work.

Previously we only looked up the assigned Head of Org. Unit in SAP HCM, but with this release we have introduced an additional method for looking up the manager of an employee. The extract program is using the standard SAP function module HR_ASR_GET_LEADER to find the manager, see below for how the relation is defined in SAP HCM.

Example

Starts with employee PERNO » employee Position (PA0001) » get supervisor Position (HRP1001 A 002) » supervisor position PERNO holder (HRP1001 A 008).

The Manager’s PERNO is written to table /OMADA/HRCACHE to the existing field MGR_INITS.

Bug fixes​

An issue with the Personnel Sub Area data not being populated in the HRCACHE table and thereby not being returned by our web services when the Identity’s validity is in the future is now resolved.

Creation of new entries for Termination Types in transaction /OMADA/CONFXHR sometimes resulted in empty records in table /OMADA/TERM_TYPE, this issue is now resolved.

Creation of new entries for Start Dates in transaction /OMADA/CONFXHR sometimes resulted in empty records in table /OMADA/ID_STRTDT, this issue is now resolved.

SAP HCM Dynamic Extract Program

performance improvements

The logic in the extract program has been optimized to increase the performance – dependent on the employee population we have seen improvements of up to 80% in the runtime of the cache table population in SAP HCM.

  • Test Function

    Test functionality of the dynamic extract configuration is now included.

  • Logging

    Logging functionality is implemented and easily accessible from within the configuration transaction.

The configuration of the dynamic extract is now consolidated in one transaction code: /OMADA/CONFXHR.

SAP HCM Dynamic Extract Program enhancements

  • Re-Hires

    We have changed the logic and improved the support for the re-hire scenario.

  • Termination Date

    The calculation of termination date is improved, and the task mapping for ValidTo on Identities is updated to consider if a termination date exists – then this date is used for _ValidTo_.

  • Documentation

    Documentation of the dynamic extract program is updated and improved.

Bug fixes​

An issue in the CALC_DT1 configuration has been fixed. The missing line in the Rules for dates used for conditions or exceptions has been added.

New features​

We have introduced new functionality to improve how user parameters are managed. Previously all existing parameters were overwritten when new parameters were added. A new section Parameter2 has been added to the User Modify web service, which supports specifying an Action (ADD, REMOVE, MODIFY) to determine how the parameters should be managed. New logic in the code is comparing with existing parameters and executes only the required Add, Modify, Remove actions instead of replacing all existing parameters. This originates from the AHA Idea OI-I-1336.

To utilize the new functionality a new version of the SAP Connector is required, which is included in the November 2025 Cloud Update / On-prem. V15 Update 5.

We have introduced one new property on the Role object which holds information whether the role is set to obsolete in SAP (IS_OBSOLETE). This originates from the AHA Idea OI-I-1521.

To utilize the new property for an SAP system which is already onboarded in Omada Identity, update the XML behind the Queries and mappings (use CTRL + click on Queries and mappings). In the displayed XML, insert the following line after xpaths= in the query for Roles:

obsolete:./DEFAULT:IS_OBSOLETE


You can now add them as extension attributes under Mappings for the Resource > Roles query.

Changes​

The template role Y_OMADA_SAPMA_CONSUMER_ECC has been extended to include the t-codes SM04, SM50 and SM51. This has been done to mitigate potential authorizations issues with customers having SAP systems with the Support Package level mentioned in SAP Note 2049119.

In addition to the above change to our SAP template role, the endpoint for User Modify has also been enhanced to include better exception handling in case of missing authorizations.

Changes​

The attribute SECURITY_POLICY is added to the list of available attributes to extract from SAP, the attribute is placed in the tab Logon Data in transaction SU01 – User Management in SAP.

The attribute is currently not available for provisioning to via OPS.

The interface for retrieving Profiles from SAP is changed, so now only Profiles with an active status are part of the extract.

The interface for retrieving users from SAP is changed, so that we no longer expose the hashed passwords for users.

Use this option with caution, if you exclude roles and/or profiles which are assigned to users, you will experience issues when importing resource assignments for users as they will refer to non-existing resources.
