User types

A user can be of several types. For example, a specific user can be a manager as well as an employee at the same time.

Each user type has a corresponding user group in Omada Identity. Being member of the user group does, however, not necessarily mean in itself that a user is of the corresponding user type as it sometimes also requires additional configuration to be that For example, a user might be member of the System owners group. However, if he is not also stated as the owner of one or more systems than in fact he can’t truly be considered as being of user type System owner.

Binary user types

User types in Omada Identity can be categorized as binary or non-binary. The binary user types the access is controlled by further configuration such as which specific systems you are owner of. The non-binary user types in Omada Identity are:

  • Managers: manage specific identities and/or business contexts.
  • Resource Owners: own specific resources and/or resource folders.
  • Service Desk Agents: serve in the service desk for specific business contexts.
  • System owners: own specific systems.
