Ownership
Learn how to assign ownerships of objects in Omada Identity. These objects can be Identities, Contexts, Resources, and other objects.
Assigning ownerships
There are several ways to assign ownerships:
- Direct Resource Assignments
- Delegation of Self-management owner calculated resource assignment
- Explicit Owners maintained in external source system
They all serve a different purpose and can be combined, depending on your purpose.
Explicit Owners and Manual Owners
There are several ways you can assign ownerships. If you are updating owners manually via forms or processes, you should use the Manual Owners property or create a Direct Resource Assignment.
You should not update the Explicit Owner property from inside Omada Identity, because it will disrupt the ownership synchronization between Omada Identity and the Data Warehouse. The explicit owners should always come from a source system outside Omada Identity.
You can easily identify where these properties are used:
- Go to the Properties view.
- Look for Manual owners or Explicit owner.
- Click on the ellipsis button on the right of the row.
- Click on Usage.
- A dialog opens, listing all data object types using the selected property.
